Unless you're a gambler, a business trip to Las Vegas can be tremendously boring and expensive - unless you rent a small car for a drive out to Lake Mead. It's beautiful country, and the hills around the reservoir are spectacular in the fiery palette of colors they present, especially at dawn.

There are some great trails for hiking and mountain biking, and the lake even offers diving opportunities.

One of the best online guides to outdoor activities near Las Vegas is here. Check it out before you go. And sneak outdoors for some exercise before your first business meeting of the day.

To get a close-up preview of what's out there, take a ride with Pink Jeep Tours.

In October the company is teaming up with the Nevada Cancer Institute to kick off Breast Cancer Awareness month with the first annual "Trek for the Cure." Throughout October, Pink Jeep Tours will donate $4.80 from all Red Rock Tours sales to the cancer institute.

October also marks the debut of Pink Jeep Tours' Tour Trekker, a luxurious, first of its kind, high-end, all-terrain, 4-wheel drive vehicle. Pink Jeep Tours is one of the few Las Vegas tour companies to possess off-road permits, guests experience areas inaccessible to most people. From the Grand Canyon to Hoover Dam to Mt. Charleston, there are 10 tours showcasing the Southwest.
