SP0214_CURLING.JPG"There is a movement to get a curling club going in the Providence area," writes Russ Lemcke of the Cape Cod Curling Club. In Canada, curling is as much a weekly social event as it is a sport. Having played in both New Brunswick and Ontario, we can certify the activity as solid fun.

This weekend, the Cape Cod club in Falmouth is hosting a Learn to Curl program Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. The program is free and open to everyone, says Russ.

The club recently expanded its facility to serve a growing membership, and it is equipped for wheelchair curling.

Participants should wear soft-soled sneakers and a warm sweater for their time on the ice.

The facility is located at 37 Highfield in Falmouth, opposite the sports arena. More information is available here or by calling 508-540-2414.
