Providence Journal photo / Bob Breidenbach Pitcher and catchers have reported at the Red Sox spring training facility in Fort Myers, FL, as the team starts a new season -- with the first official workout coming today. In this photo, Red Sox minor league pitcher Ryan Pressley uses a parachute to provide resistance during a workout on Thursday. According to one parachute provider's Web site, The chute allows "parachute resistance training and over speed training drills without a partner." Practitioners of this particular form of training say it improves two key elements of speed: stride length and frequency. Looks like fun. |
