I really love my job, and some days, the whole world can see it. On Tuesday, U.S. Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I., was in The Providence Journal newsroom to discuss health-care reform with projo.com readers. I had the pleasure of helping him during the live chat. I was impressed by the amount of questions he took on -- there were hundreds by the end of the hour-long session -- and that he didn't turn down a one, unless is was a repeat of one he just answered. Extra: Read the transcript The best part of the day for me was learning so much about the complicated debate that is health-care reform in this country. There are many myths out there that Sen. Reed dispelled, and just being a part of that event got me to absorb the issues a little bit better. In this fitness blog, we attempt to get people thinking about their health. We write about effective workouts, healthy foods and some alternative methods to wellness. Preventative measures are key, we've learned, to keeping us all in the best shape possible. Efforts by our lawmakers to improve the health system so that every American is covered for preventative care -- in addition to catastrophic illness -- can only help. I encourage everyone -- young and old -- to look into this important issue and decide for themselves what's best for our country, and all of us, as individuals. |
