The Woonasquatucket River Rangers, a 24-member team of local youth ages 14 to 20, work with volunteers from the Manton Heights community cleaning, mulching and painting along a stretch of the 5-mile Fred Lippitt Woonasquatucket River Greenway Bike Path in Providence.

Much of the activity focused on sprucing up a mural on the retaining wall along the bike path facing Route 6 but, last Thursday's work also included weeding the landscape area above the retaining wall and clearing and mulching a path from the apartments to the bike path.

Volunteers were treated with lemonade, watermelon slices and a raffle. The Rangers maintain the Greenway bike path and try to engage residents in taking care of the Greenway.
