It's football season again, and whether you're just a big fan (like me) or a player, by now you've learned that there's a lot of conditioning that goes with the sport.

Plus, the exercises and nutrition lessons can translate over from the athletic world to everyday use.

There have been many trend articles lately that mention that former players are often having a difficult time coming down in size from their years bulking up to take all the hits.

The recommendations from the trainers and nutritionists who are able to help ex-football players include a slow transition to establish a new way to eat: Calculating body mass and daily calorie needs. Instead of dieting, most teach them to add healthful choices such as fruits and vegetables to their menus.

While on the field, players need a lot of help getting ready for the season, to put themselves in peak condition and help prevent injury.

In the video below, eHow.com shows some of the basic drills for players, including such exercises as the high knees drill, butt kicks and combination.
