The Tuesday Night Athletic Foundation has scheduled its second New England Open Water Championships for Saturday at Second Beach. Registration is scheduled to start at 7:30 a.m., and the first wave of swimmers is scheduled to start at 9 a.m.

"It is going to be a 1,500-meter race in three 500-meter legs off the beach," said Michael J. Richards, one of the foundation's founders and its president.

Last year, the event raised $5,000 to support amateur athletics through scholarships and grants.

The group has donated $10,000 since it was founded in 2006, Richards said.
