Volunteers are needed for the Oct. 10 and 11 Providence Cyclo-Cross Festival, a USA Cycling-sanctioned professional and amateur cyclo-cross race event.

It's part of the Interbike Festival events that same weekend in the city.

Narragansett Bay Wheelman has put out the call for volunteers, noting the organization "did a lot of the heavy lifting when this group put on the cyclo-cross national championships in Providence a few years ago."

Rhode Island will be showcase on the world stage as a bicycle and cycling leader, the group notes, during the event.

The three major beneficiaries of this event are East Coast Greenway, Providence Bicycle Coalition and Bikes Belong.
