Expert: Exercise beneficial for brain as well as body
The only way to convince the American Couch Potatoes (most of our youth population and their potato parents who taught them their ways) is to convince all that being fit will make you rich (directly rich!)--then and only then will Ameicans give up their ipods, TV's and couches and go outside and walk, jog, swim, play catch or hike or garden.

Veterans could be more rare as 'unfit for duty' ranks rise
I served 21 years in the Army National Guard. I retired at the age of 42 and have kept in shape over the years. If the youth if today cannot pass the APRT (Army Physical Readiness Test) which consist of pushups, sit-ups and a 2 mile run then I would say that is pretty pathetic. Perhaps lack of parental discipline is one reason for this. Maybe parents should take away the X-Box and get junior involved in an exercise program. In fact from what I see of most parents today they could get on that same program along with junior.

Expert: Exercise beneficial for brain as well as body
This article is already common knowledge among those of us who workout and are physically active. However, most people are totally unaware of the benefits exercise can have on the brain. While it is true that exercise cannot make you smarter it can certainly make your brain more awake and aware. This can help in performing task and duties of an everyday job. Working out can also help you to be conditioned to go that extra mile or lift that extra rep which can also translate into accomplishing that difficult assignment.
As for the 'dumb jock syndrome' that is a way of thinking that was developed by narrow minded YUPPIES who aren't able to see the whole picture. In the end those of us who are on an exercise program will most likely enjoy better health and a longer life than they will. He who laughs last, laughs best.

'Not Without Peril': Essential reading for NH hikers
I read an earlier version of this book. The book is an excellent read and a must for any and all hikers. Having respect for the mountains especially one like Washington where the weather is horribly unpredictable is imperative to surviving. The stories in this book range from unfortunate accidents to plain irresponsibility. There are many lessons to be learned from this book.

How to get first lady-like arms, Part 2: Wave bye-bye to loose triceps
This is a great article. What's your opinion on getting a set of the adjustable dumbbells for this type of workout? Are they too bulky or just right?
Thanks for posting this great article.

We just couldn't Master this 'cleansing' diet
Been using the Dr Max Powers 15 Day Cleanse for 3 years now (about 3 x per year) and I am SO happy I discovered it on the internet. I had never been regular even as a child, but these pills work magic for me. I'm guaranteed results the next morning. No cramps or other problems, just good results.
In the past 3 days I have lost 6 pounds of waste. My appetite is down and I feel great. I'm taking 2 pills a day, 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening. There is no stomach cramping, although my stomach has made a couple of growling noises at me..giving me a warning that it is time to go to the bathroom..but other than that..no real problems
Looking forward to more waste (weight) loss...hip-hip-hooray!!! I definitely recommend them for women looking for a great cleanse to do!

Discover the new Flintlock Loop Trail in West Greenwich
Walked the trail today, Nov. 10. Enjoyable walk!. It would be helpful in a few places if trail directions to right/left could be clearer; utilizing the way the north-south trail is marked; with a blaze above and to left of original blaze for left turn and vice- versa for right turn.

Fight obesity? Some advocate adding sales tax to soda
I took inventory last night of each bottle of (non-diet-taxable) soda I have in inventory. It would cost me 844.40 – Oh—yes—I can hear you now—I pass it on to the consumer. While that is true—I would pay it up front to the wholesaler—it is dead capital I would have tied up 100% of the time. That means I would HAVE to reduce other inventory by that amount. Or–that means I have to adjust my labor—cut at least 1 job. Being small enough—I could pull one off payroll. That means the 7.65% X 2 doesn’t go into the social security till. Also—I wouldn’t pay my share of UI, W/C, etc. Forced illegality.
Oh—yes—I can hear, again, some of you saying—but the government picks up that obese health costs. Let’s face it—much of that is due to the poorer class not being educated or adhering to proper food and beverage choices. SNAP (food stamps) ALLOWS for the purchase of soda, candy, confections, chips and ice cream. We are not allowed to charge the NYS 8% sales tax on SNAP purchases. We back it out at the register. BUT—any pre-paid tax or fee—meaning paid up front to the wholesaler—does NOT get backed out. So—who in heck will pay for this? The feds will pay the state—it’s called a shell game with an extra administrative cost. Then—once the realization happens—how this is reducing the SNAP allotment—the feds will raise it. Again—who in heck pay for this?

Discover the new Flintlock Loop Trail in West Greenwich
This was a very nice trail and a walk we will do over again. There are two points in the hike that we feel could be clarified...the sign showing the trail split (the map on the trail refers to it as the overlook or overview???), where we followed the fluorescent ribbons, led us back to a section of the trail that we'd already walked. The split should be where we re-entered the trail; that way, it picks up yellow blazes at the correct point. The other concern is when we came to Narrow Lane...a sign pointing to the right would help hikers who are not familiar with directions.
Thanks for another great area to hike!!!
